Our Telliskivi store was closed for two months, but it will be open again from 12th of May. There will be small changes in our opening times this month - we are closed on Mondays and from Tuesday to Friday we are open 11-18.
We opened our store on 19th of May 2018 and at the moment it feels like starting again, but this time it will be better stocked :) I will celebrate the news with a cup of Fika's coffee and get working on opening again.
Note for next time (I hope it never comes): it took several days to set up again, cancel pick up from store on online orders, change opening times and it was good that we decided to check the inventory before the news of opening again.
Everybody is interested in the numbers at the moment, so to be transparent, our March and April were not absolute disasters because Telliskivi Creative City did not ask us pay rent and Estonian Artists Union, who is the owner of our studio space in ARS, reduced the rent by 25%. We also recieved some aid form the govenrment to cover wages, since everybody in our company have always been employed with a contract and have benefits that come with it. Our income dropped around 60% in March and April compared to 2019, but we expected a bigger drop or it has just not arrived yet.
We had our historical first sale that helped a bit (Thank you!), but since our products don't come with sales and marketing margins and we make everything ourselves, then whats the point of making something and then selling it with a discount. I think it's more reasonabe to have normal prices and as a customer not to feel bad when you bought something before a sale. Let me know what you think and if we should change our minds. The crazy thing about this is also that when the demand drops, the cost of producing actually gets higher in our case.
We have always done everything with the money we have earned by making and selling our products (almost 7 years) and in times like these it is so important to have savings and not to live above your means. And choose well and buy things that you really need - it's better for the environment.
